Goodreads can publish some tough book reviews. My new Yale University Press Book titled “Adapting to Climate Change” received the following review;
“The future seems unpredictable, just as the subtitle of this volume states. And here is another snake oil salesman who will predict it for you in exchange for good wages for him, his nieces and nephews, from the taxes collected by the Government. Work. Obey. Kahn wants a bigger house and probably has some children at home who will need to pay the high tuition required by the Universities of the 21st century.”
The reviewer clearly didn’t read a single page of my new book and the book received one star (on a 5 star scale).
Google Books gives you a pinch of a preview. Those with access to JSTOR can see more of the book.
My book explores the adaptation challenge from the perspective of microeconomics. I take the ideas that I learned from Gary Becker, Sherwin Rosen and Robert Lucas and apply to thinking about how people, firms and local governments will respond to emerging threats in the face of “known unknowns”. This book builds on my 2010 Climatopolis book.
